La tarea : Oral presentation topic – basic recipe instructions  =  instrucciones básicas de la receta

There is no pdf for this assignment.  Use words from these videos  OR  find your own basic cooking words.  Your recipe can be easy with few ingredients as long as your presentation is 1 minute speaking at a normal pace.  You can tell us how to make your favorite sandwich or an ice coffee or whatever you like!!  Don’t worry about saying every detail.  Just talk for one minute and have fun with it!

You have 2 weeks for this assignment.  Half of you will share on April 7 and the rest of you on April 14.  Be prepared to share on April 7.

La tarea :  “Around the Table” means everyone will share next week, Jan. 27.  Watch this video of Juan from Easy Spanish.  It is 13 min. long.  It has English subtitles so you will understand all he is saying.  He shares about 5 areas of culture he experienced during his travel to Spain:  1. Expectation vs Reality   2. The people   3. The food   4. The language   5. Quality of life

Write 3 complete sentences in Spanish of what you heard from Juan regarding the culture in Spain.  The sentences should  make sense to you.  You can also write them in English to help you remember what you wrote, but you will only read the Spanish sentences in class.

Por ejemplo:  =  For example:   Below are my simple 3 sentences. You cannot use my examples 🙂

1. Hay diferencias en el idioma.   =  There are differences in the language.

2. Hay palabras diferentes para la misma cosa.  = There are different words for the same thing.

The above Spanish translation doesn’t quite have the same heart feel as our traditional Happy Thanksgiving!  I’m with you Fiona 😉

Of course you can use other thankful words, but from my research, ¡Feliz Día de Acción de Gracias!, is the most commonly accepted way.

el agradecimiento/la gratitud = gratefulness

agradecido (a)  =  thankful

Here is my grammar tip example:  La zeta/Z nunca vibra. Suena como una dura ese/S.  Unos ejemplos son las palabras zapato y zoológico.  =   The Z never vibrates.  It sounds like a hard S.  Some examples are the words shoe and zoo.

Last Sunday, I saved a starfish = una estrella de mar.

I thought it was a plastic toy covered in sand, but when I touched it, it felt more like a rubber toy. I lifted it and it was so heavy!  Then I saw it was alive!  In my shock, I let it go into the oncoming wave.  I wanted to take better photo, but the ocean was faster than me.  It was still a fun surprise!

Hola estudiantes, =  Hello students,

Hoy = Today:  Gracias por las reseñas de pelicula. = Thank you for your movie reviews.  ALSO,  thank you for being adaptable with the tech and connectivity issues that arise. Everyone did great! 10:30 & 11:30 classes: please bring tape to hang a note on the door “class in session”. Hopefully that will help with less disruptions. I will start using a timer so I can release you with walking time for your next class.
